Before You Write
There is no wrong way to write this letter. It doesn't need to be long. It doesn't need to be poetic. It just needs to be yours — honest words, in your own hand, from your own heart.
A Few Things to Remember
•Write as if you're sitting across from them. Don't try to sound formal or perfect. Write the way you actually talk to this person.
•It's okay to cry while you write. It's okay to laugh. It's okay to start over. There's no rush.
•You don't have to say everything in one letter. You can always write another.
•Mistakes, cross-outs, and imperfect handwriting are part of what makes this letter irreplaceable. Don't worry about neatness.
•If you get stuck, flip to the prompts section. Sometimes a single question is all you need to get the words flowing.
The person receiving this letter won't care about your handwriting. They'll care that you took the time to write it.
